The Gymnasium: The Final Chapter & An Octopus Named Paul

****Updated: Monday July 5th****

Two possible explanations have developed why some of the best teams have been booted out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup:

1} Poor referring, possibly the worst ever in World Cup history.

2} The matches are rigged.

 Here is the latest one:

3} Blame Mick Jagger.

****Saturday July 3rd Update****

Hmm....... let's see what has happened so far in the 2010 FIFA World Cup:

England is still in mourning, my sister included.

Portugal's Ronaldo is still heartbroken.

Brazil is still in utter shock and now I hear Diego Maradona has fallen into a coma after being demolished 4-0 by Germany. Seriously Argentina? Not one frigging goal! Come on! Team England may have lost but at least they were able to score a goal. What the hell happened?! I could ask that same question to Team Brazil: you guys are suppose to be THE BEST so what the hell?!

To quote the commentator: "This has been one strange World Cup."

Uruguay remains the only South American country left. Will they be able to make it all the way and take home the prize?

Next 2 matches:
Germany vs. Spain

The Netherlands vs. Uruguay

Latest prediction: The two teams to face each other in the World Cup:

Team Germany vs. Team Netherlands

I don't know what to say because it was also predicted Team Brazil would be the ultimate winners.

****Updated-Updated*****

 Uruguay vs. Ghana

At the end of 90min the game was tied 1-1, Ghana scoring the first goal. The match went into overtime and with the scored still tied, the winner was decided on penalty shootout.

Uruguay won the coin toss and scored a goal and the crowds booed very, very badly and loudly.

In the end.......

Uruguay won and goes through to the semi finals and will play against The Orange. “Hearts in Africa are broken.”

****Updated: Friday July 2nd 11:52am****

The Samba Kings vs. The Netherlands

To quote the commentator:

"The Orange are looking to kick the samba out of Brazil."

Hmm....we shall see, I thought.

I missed most of the game but Brazil scored the first goal 10 minutes into the match.

Well......they did it. Somehow The Orange managed to kick the samba out of Brazil. I don't think anyone is partying in Rio.

Sadly, Brazil is out of the World Cup. They are calling it: "Coach Dunga's defeat because when Brazil loses a game the blame goes to the coach.......... A cloud of depession has fallen over Brazil."

Cocaine Princess here.

.......After we cleaned up, a light snack was served and off we went to watch the DVD they all unanimously agreed on.

I know you’re dying to know what movie I watched with my group so without further ado...........
“The Hangover”
"A Las Vegas-set comedy centered around three groomsmen who lose their about-to-be-wed buddy during their drunken misadventures. Hilarious chaos results as the trio head out to re-trace their steps to find out what occurred in order to try and locate the groom-to-be, and bring him home in one piece before the wedding." {Rated-R}

What an amusing movie. Favorite scene: The stun gun demonstration. My little group laughed til they peed.

I’m kidding! I’m kidding! No worries, that’s not the movie they
unanimously agreed on watching. "The Hangover" was definitely NOT on the movie list.

The flick we saw:

 TAGLINE:
He's the spitting image of his dad.

PLOT:
The son of an eccentric detective steps into his father's shoes after his mother is wrongly arrested for stealing a baby panda. Allriiiighty-then. Ace - Ace Jr. is on the case!

"I will try to be normal" 12-year-old Ace Ventura Jr. promises. That’s cool, except what’s normal for him is finding missing mutts, kidnapped kitties or gone gators and creating hilarious chaos every step of the way. Like father, like son, it’s in his nature to be a pet defective detective! And when a zoos baby panda is stolen and Aces mom is Suspect #1, our young hero sets out to clear the family name. It’s a new generation of family fun and comedy panda-monium as Ace Ventura Jr. (Josh Flitter of Nancy Drew and License to Wed) teams with adventurous girl-next-door Laura (Emma Lockhart) and nerdish gizmo-wiz A-Plus (Austin Rogers) to chase down leads and laughs. Ready for fun? Allriiiighty-then. Ace - Ace Jr. is on the case! {A film for all ages}”

I’ve seen the first two Ace Ventura Pet Detective movies with Jim Carrey but I wasn’t aware of this one because it wasn’t commercially released, it went straight to DVD. I absolutely enjoyed the film as did all the little lambs. It was fun watching them play detective themselves as they all tried guessing who kidnapped the zoo’s panda, and Josh Fitter who plays Ace Jr did a great job playing the part.

I had an awesome time in the gymnasium and best of all: it was a Poodle-Lady free day!! Thank you God.

Ah, yes my lovelies it’s that time again for me to blog about The World Cup.

The FIFA 2010 World Cup has now reached at the quarter final stage and there are only 8 matches left before we find out who will be named World Champions. There are *2 very tough and enormous up coming matches.

Friday July 2nd
*Brazil vs. The Netherlands 9:45am
2-1

  Uruguay vs. Ghana 2:15pm
4-2 {Penalty Shoot-Out}

*BACKGROUND INFO: "It will be the fourth World Cup match between Brazil and The Netherlands, and Brazil has won two of them. The Dutch won a second-round match in the 1974 tournament in Germany, but the Brazilians beat the Dutch 3-2 in the 1994 quarterfinals in the United States, and succeeded in a penalty shootout in the 1998 semifinals in France."

REPORT: "Brazil is going to face Netherlands in the quarter finals. It will be The Samba Kings toughest test ahead going against the Dutch. A win over the Dutch would see Brazil facing either Uruguay or Ghana in the semi final."

PREDICTION: "Brazil are the favorites to win, but remember, anything can happen on any day in the soccer world and the mistakes made by the WC referees over the past few matches are proof of that."

If you’ve been following my blog you know I will be without a doubt proudly wearing those yellow shorts on Friday. Go Samba Kings!

Saturday July 3rd
*Argentina vs. Germany or to quote the press:
“Diego Maradona vs. The Germans”
0-4

 Paraguay vs. Spain 2:15pm
0-1

*BACKGROUND INFO: "Argentina and Germany have faced each other in two World Cup finals. In 1986, the South Americans won 3-2 with Maradona at his peak. Four years later the Germans won 1-0 to lift the trophy."

*REPORT: "Argentina have not been defeated yet in the tournament and have won four straight games. They have conceded only two goals in the World Cup till now and are the favorites to win by a shootout. Germany are also looking extremely strong after destroying England 4-1 in round of 16 in the last game. The Germans have only lost one game so far in the tournament."

*PREDICTION: Has anybody heard about the "Fortune Telling Octopus" who can predict the matches? Yes my lovelies it is true, an octopus who has psychic abilities.

The above octopus whose name is Paul predicted Germany would beat England and is now predicting Argentina will lose. The fascinating story is here.

For us, July 1st marks the first long weekend of summer. We are a nation of proud patio dwellers. Can you blame us considering how short our summers are? Patio and afternoon pool parties are in full swing and today our nation celebrates a birthday. We are 143 years young. "Canada Day marks the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada being divided, in the process, into Ontario and Québec ) on July 1, 1867."

No one really pays attention to the historical significance of this day. It's really just an excuse to drink and hang out which is why the LCBO sent out a special Canada Day recipe magazine:

CLASSIC SOUR
In a cocktail filled with ice, add 1.5oz. Canadian Club, 1oz. Lemon juice, 1oz. Lime juice and 2oz. Simple syrup.

Shake and strain into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

CRANBERRY CREEK
In a highball glass filled with ice, add 1.5oz. Forty Creek, 3oz. Cranberry juice, 2oz. Lemon-lime soda. Garnish with lime slices.

CROWN FIZZ
Add 1.5oz. Crown Royal Deluxe, 1.5oz. Lemon juice and 4 teaspoons sugar to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and pour into tall glass. Add 6oz. Of club soda and stir with spoon. Garnish with lemon slice.

Question: Which out of the above 3 drinkies will I be having?

Answer: None of them.

Here’s what I’ll be having:

Usually my drink of choice is a luscious Margarita but I also don’t mind Piña Coladas. I know it’s more of a tropical drink to enjoy on the beach but hey, that’s the drink I’ve selected and as the package says near the top: "freeze it and then squeeze it into a glass. A refreshing blend of premium vodka, pineapple juice and coconut flavor."

If there are any readers up here: “Happy Canada Day!!” If not, “Happy Canada Day” to me.

My loyal and dear readers it’s the start of the holidays.

Whatever your plans are have a fun and patriotic long weekend.-x
