“Torture Porn....Sure It Makes You Uncomfortable......”

Cocaine Princess here.

Every Sunday in my home is regarded as “Lazy Sunday.” I hardly do a thing. When The Boys Of Summer were staying with us Lazy Sunday had been put on hold but now that they have left {and yes I still miss them} Lazy Sundays are back in full swing.

This past Sunday I decided to catch up on some movies. I went to the “Unwatched DVD” pile and picked out a few.

Saw 1-3

The franchise revolves around the fictional character of John Kramer, also called the "Jigsaw Killer" or simply Jigsaw, introduced briefly in Saw and in more detail in Saw II, who, rather than killing his victims outright, traps them in situations which he calls "tests" or "games", to test their will to live via physical or psychological torture.

All I have to say: if you’re a fan of torture~porn movies like Hostel 1&2 then I strongly recommend the Saw franchise, if not, stay away. Hmm, then again to quote Stephen King: “torture porn....sure it makes you uncomfortable, but good art should make you uncomfortable.”

“The Haunting in Connecticut” {2009}

This film is supposedly based on the "true story" of Carmen Snedeker as portrayed by the author Ray Garton in the book In a Dark Place. The film's story follows the fictional Campbells as they move into a house to mitigate the strains of travel on their cancer-stricken son, Matthew. The family soon becomes haunted by violent and traumatic events from supernatural forces occupying the house.

 This was one very interesting film and I really enjoyed it.

 “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” {2009}

The film follows a traveling theater troupe whose leader, Doctor Parnassus having made a bet with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations and face them with a choice between good and evil.

Heath Ledger, Christopher Plummer, Lily Cole, and Tom Waits star in the film, though Ledger's death one-third of the way through filming caused production to be temporarily suspended.  Ledger's role was recast with Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell portraying transformations of Ledger's character as he travels through a dream world.

I totally loved this film and no it isn’t because my favorite actor Johnny Depp happens to be in it. (although him being in the film is a bonus) The visuals in this film are absolutely stunning and so colorful! Good news: "Pirates of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides" is currently being filmed. Click here for an update from Captain Jack Sparrow himself. Ahoy Mateys!

“Mortuary”

The Doyle family move to the small town of Santa Loraina, California moving into a home where the townsfolk suspect that the land the home lies on is haunted and the cemetery on the property to be the living place of a sadistic monster.

I found this DVD at Staples Business Depot of all places. I was there with sister a while back who needed to pick up some things. I had no idea they began selling not only DVDs but did you know they have a food aisle now? Dry foods, pop, chocolates, hard candy and potato chips! Anyways this particular movie was directed by Tobe Hooper and went straight to DVD. Most B-movies are considered cheesy with bad acting and bad story~lines. I found this one to be the complete opposite.

So there you have it, how I spent my Lazy Sunday. So, have any of my lovelies seen any good movies lately?

****
My loyal and dear readers it’s finally Friday and I’m so glad that it is!

Whatever your plans are have an amazing first weekend of Autumn.~x

XOXOXOXO,
