Pancakes!

Cocaine Princess here.

Today is Mardi Gras or as I like to call it Carnival! Each year when this day rolls around it takes me back to my amazing trip to Rio de Janeiro a few years ago. In my opinion there's no other place on the planet to celebrate Carnival. A few of the famous spots I visited: the statue of Christ The Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, Ipanema and Copacabana Beach and of course the Carnival parade at the Sambadrome. I was also fortunate enough to attend The Magic Ball at the glamorous Copacabana Palace Hotel which is considered to be the social event of the season.

This is one of my favorite pics of me taken in Rio:

There's something about this city that explodes with sex appeal. To say Rio's geography is simply gorgeous would be an understatement. Never before in my life have I partied for so many days from sunup to sundown as I did here. This is one of those cities that everyone needs to put on their bucket list of places to visit. One of my favorite movies is Zalman King's "Wild Orchid," filmed in Rio during carnival. Critics hated the film and unlike Zalman King's "9 1/2 Weeks" "Wild Orchid" was a commercial flop but I really loved it and there's a good possibility I'm one of a handful of people who do. Some may argue the movie is nothing but soft-core porn and yes there are more than a few steamy scenes but by today's standard those scenes are tame especially if you've seen the shows True Blood or Spartacus. The soundtrack to the film is flawless. An instrumental piece called "Love Theme" by Paradise is truly breathtaking which I have posted below. The music doesn't start until 5:28--- when Carre Otis spots Mickey Rourke so you may want to fast forward unless you want to see a bunch of naked people covered in body glitter and paint celebrating Carnival that is.

The full uninterrupted instrumental version is here. If you choose to listen to it, do so with your eyes closed. How perfect are those trumpets you hear at the start? Some of the comments that are posted on youtube.com range from So sensual it touches the soul with raw emotion music to music seduction as its best to This song is perfect love-making music! While searching for the videos I came across the entire film. If you're interested in watching it click here.

One can't talk about this day without mentioning pancakes. Unforunately housekeeper has the day off and sister will be in the classroom teaching so there's no one in the house to make me pancakes this morning. Poor me, right? In case you forgot the Colombian Princess doesn't have a domestic bone in her body. Thankfully housekeeper stocked a little something in the freezer especially for moi:

Frozen ready made pancakes you pop into the toaster!

My lovelies, Happy Mardi Gras.

New York Fashion Week 5 & 6

Cocaine Princess here.

Day 5

Carolina Herrera presented her collection on Monday. An original score, Capriccio for Carolina, recorded with the London Contemporary Orchestra served as background music. The Venezuela-born designer used fur in her collection by and dyed them to the colors of rich green and deep violet.

Pieces included fur as a bib at the front of a black turtleneck, at the cinched waist of a satin jacket and along the neckline of a strapless cocktail dress.

Many of her dresses featured high necks and cinched waists, with attention drawn to shoulders capped in black velvet or encrusted with jewels.

Hairstyles were very 1940s inspired and the makeup was kept to a minimal. To the right is the current "IT" model of the fashion world, Cara Delevingne.

To the left, Carolina Herrera who said, "my collection is for the woman of today who likes to be dressed up... Women are sometimes afraid of being called elegant or glamorous." (I for one am not afraid!!)

Day 6:

The hottest ticket in town for New York Fashion Week AW 2013-14 was the Marc Jacobs show. Marc presented his collection. The Australian group Tame Impala's song "Elephant" was the official song to play as models appeared on the runway. It was all about seventies with poodle hair, and retro prints.inspiration for Marc by Marc Jacobs. They say a picture says a 1000 words so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. The accessories in particular the handbags bags aren't too bad but other than that I wasn't feeling the collection.
