Good morning and a very happy Saturday to you all.
Only 8 shorts days are left until The Great Pumpkin rises from the patch!
My lovelies, I present to you Day #23 Halloween themed drinkie:
Saturday October 23rd, 2010,
"Satan's Whiskers"
"The mix of flavors in this Satan's Whiskers is really quite pleasant but it is potent and taller than most neat drinks (grab those over-sized cocktail glasses) and that's probably where it got its scary name. According to A.J. Rathburn's Good Spirits book if you were to skip the Grand Marnier for another orange liqueur like curacao the drink would then be called a "Curled Satan's Whiskers." A small technicality, even though the two liqueurs produce slightly different tastes in the drink."
INGREDIENTS:
* ½ oz Gin
*½ oz Sweet Vermouth
*½ oz Dry Vermouth
*½ oz Fresh Orange Juice
*2 tsp Orange Curaçao (curled) or Grand Marnier (straight)
*1 tsp Orange Bitters
PREPARATION:
1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
4. Garnish with an orange twist.
"The curaçao and orange juice make this less likely to spook vermouth-wary guests. The blood orange juice gives it a little more color, and you can make long orange twists early in the day, curl them around a chopstick and leave them in a glass of ice water until it’s time to use them. The ice water helps them keep their shape and it saves you time when you’re manning the bar."
Tomorrow Drinkie #24.
XOXOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess
