Food & Commercials

Cocaine Princess here.

It's that time of year of again--- The SuperBowl. Superbowl XLIX is taking place this Sunday and I only know this because of the numerous pizza flyers that been left in the mailbox advertising SuperBowl Meal Deals-- pizza, wings, garlic bread & a 6pack of Coke all for under 20 bucks!! I haven't exactly decided what I'll be indulging in but it's a pretty safe bet that it'll be something cheesy.

As for the game, New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks. I have no idea what team is going to win however moments before kickoff I will be doing my own coin toss: Heads- Patriots. Tails- Seahawks. And wherever the coin lands that is the team I will be rooting for. Does anyone really watch the game? It's really about the commercials and of course the half-time show. A 30-second ad this year costs $4.5 million. Budweiser is producing one of the most anticipated spots featuring the return of the iconic Clydesdales and a lost puppy.

To be honest, I've never been really a fan of the Clydesdales ad or the puppy.

I Am Living In The Frozen Tundra

Cocaine Princess here.

We're into day 9 of the New Year and all I have to say is I returned way too early from my Christmas vaycay--- which by the way was incredible. I'll be blogging about that next week. I really had no choice, important commitments forced me to cut my trip short this year otherwise I'd still be baking in the tropical heat instead of shivering in the damn cold.

Yes, my Lovelies, I am living in The Frozen Tundra. This past week Mother Nature unleashed one hell of a cold spell. How cold you ask? -25C without windchill and -38C with windchill. It's painful to breathe and aside from my nose I also fear my ears may crack and fall off despite wearing a warm and insulated hat. And God forbid that to ever happen--- I have way too many pretty earrings. Heading outdoors requires wearing a Canada goose down parka that more or less makes you look like the Abominable Snowman. The city's chief medical officer has issued a cold weather alert for the city until the weekend.  We're literally not even 2 weeks into 2015 and the weather has been nothing less than ferocious and if that isn't bad enough, we're expecting snow.

Sheesh, I don't know what's worse-- snow or polar vortex temperatures?

I'm sure by now you've heard about the unspeakable horror that occurred in France the other day. Other than senseless and heartbreaking I don't know what else to say. Stéphane Charbonnier, or “Charb”, gave this quote to Le Monde newspaper in 2012  while discussing threats that had been made to the newspaper over its representation of the Prophet Mohammed; "What I'm about to say is maybe a little pompous," he said, "but I'd rather die standing up than live on my knees.” He was referencing Emiliano Zapata, leader of the Mexican revolution of 1910.  Within hours of the fatal shootings, people around the world - and online - showed their solidarity and support for free speech through the simple three word phrase “I am Charlie” (“Je suis Charlie”).

Editorial artists around the globe came together in solidarity by honoring the 12 slain Charlie Hebdo artists. Among my favorites is the drawing below illustrated by Lucille Clerc.

 Cocaine Princess here.

I'm still shaking the confetti from my hair, my skin continues to glitter and this headache of mine is taking its' sweet time in vanishing. All in all it was one hell of a night!

Today's the day you leave behind any and all negativity or pain you may have endured in 2014. Today's your chance to start fresh.

Welcome to Page 1 of 365--- write the chapter you've always wanted to write, after all it's a brand spanking New Year.   I can't wait to see what new and exciting things unfold during the year.

Happy 2015!!

XOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess
