'Dress You Up'

"You've got style, that's what all the
girls say,
Satin sheets and luxuries so fine
All your suits are custom made in London
But I've got something that you'll
really like...."

Cocaine Princess here.

23 years ago I saw Madonna preform live in concert for the first time at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Miami, Florida.

Holding mom's hand tight on one side and holding 'A's' hand on the other, I along with every other girl was dressed in a belly baring off the shoulder top, mini skirt with black lace leggings, countless bangles and rosaries and the most vital fashion accessory, my pendant that read BOY TOY. It was the definite start of my Madonna wannabe phase.
The Beastie Boys were the opening act. To be honest I wasn't a fan of their music. I kept tugging on mom's shirt and shouting really loud, 'are they done yet?!'

Minutes before Madonna appeared, the lights dimmed, the music and smoke machines started and fans went wild! She opened The Virgin Tour singing Dress You Up.
(The video for the song is the actual concert footage from her tour and can be found in the above mini player) The Material Girl danced up a storm on stage and everyone in the crowd was dancing along.
From start to finish I was in total awe like everyone else.

When the concert was over mom took us to Wolfie's where I slurped on two egg cremes and spoke enthusiastically about the concert. (I was obsessed with their egg cremes. Back then I wasn't aware what fat or cholesterol was)
Tomorrow Madonna's Sweet and Sticky Tour touches down in the T.dot. I'm leaving for the city later on in the day with 'A' and we have decided to stay there for a few days. Well we didn't so much decide as I did. She's off work until her ankle is fully healed so it's not like we have to rush back home. I'll be back next week with lots to show and tell.
There's a saying, life is not measured by the breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away. On May 11th 1985 there was an absolute feeling of love walking in.

XOXOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess

The Beastie Boys were booed in Detroit during the tour. A very odd choice for an opening act. Have fun!

Pretty neat, I was at that concert in order to see the Beastie Boys!

And I too loved egg creams, though my favorite place for that was the old Nathan's on Sunny Isles Beach.

The Material Girl left her Guy. It doesn't seem to be affecting her performance- she dedicated a song at her Boston show to the 'emotionally retarded.'

Princess how old were you at The Virgin Tour?

How old were you in 1985?

Talk about stepping into a time machine after watching the video!

Newbs, wise advice from a fossil:
never ask a woman her age.

BTW I hear La Loggia is looking for delivery boys.

Peace out chickie!

I'm so excited for you!

"I'm going to dress you up in my love! All over, all over!"

Princess: Tipper Gore had heard her daughter listening to the song, and considered its lyric ("Gonna dress you up in my love") to constitute 'vulgar music'.
The song was later put on a list "Filthy Fifteen" list.

10:45: who's going to give the boy a good recommendation?

Your enthusisum for the concert is as infectious as when you were a little girl. It is good to keep the inner child alive, although Madonna isn't the route I would necessarily take.

Have Fun......act juvinille.

I love how much you love Madonna -- Sit down for this one... (then again you may not be surprised having "A" as your sister) -- I think I only know 1 or 2 of Madonna's songs and that's simply because I'd have to be dead not to --

Celine Dion is to me what Madonna is to you... Have the absolute most fabulous time --

p.s. -- How do you feel, if anything, about Guy and her split?

Princess, your recall of your own life's timeline is imperial, I'm impressed. I too have that ability and it saddens me when some of my friends can't even remember what they were doing in 2000! Wish I was that little fella from way back when who got to say "Mmmmm strawberries!" ;p

Princess I wanted to wish you a Happy Sukkot!

"there was an absolute feeling of love walking in."

You know why Princess?

Because Madonna love for her fans bounces off to every individual in the crowd.

How was Madonna??

newlywed at 3:38,
I think it is sad when any marriage comes to an end. I am sure Madonna and Guy like any couple whose relationship is in trouble did everything they could to save it. There are things in life, no matter how hard we try, they cannot be saved and sometimes divorce/separation is the best thing for a couple. It’s not healthy to stay in a relationship that is toxic and/or is making you unhappy.

Hayley at 3:41,
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be posting soon!!
