"My Sugar Is Raw, Sticky & Sweet"

Cocaine Princess here.

My sister and I attended Madonna's concert.

The concert was superb, energetic and full of life! It was broken down into 4 different performing styles:
Pimping, Old School, Gypsy and Rave.

This past August The Material Girl turned 50.
She flexed her body. She wiggled. She swung around a dance poll. She slithered and crawled across the floor and cursed a couple of times here and there.

The show lasted a little over 2 hours. Every person was up on their feet dancing and singing with her.

My feet are sore, my ears are still ringing and my voice is hoarse. It was sooooo worth it!

CONCERT DAY

Concert souvenirs I bought inside the Galleria:

Talking on the phone outside the Gallleria.

Before the show 'A' and I had dinner in The Platinum Room inside The Air Canada Center. An elegant and my kind of restaurant to dine in. My sister the alcohol pusher, insisted I join her in having a glass of wine. After taking two teeny sips I ordered a Coke.

After an appetizing dinner we were taken to our seats for the show!!

SWEET AND STICKY SET LIST

Madonna opened the show 1 hour and 17 minutes late. An enormous candy box
appeared on stage. The box flaps collapsed and what was inside?

Her Madge-jesty on her throne! She opened the show with
Candy Shop.

"CANDY SHOP
Come into my store, I've got candy galore
Don't pretend you're not hungry, I've seen it
before

I'll be your one stop
Candy Shop...
My sugar is raw, sticky and sweet

"BEAT GOES ON"
Featuring Kanye West & Pharell Williams.

Don’t sit there like some silly girl

I’m not telling you something new
There ain’t no time to lose

So get down, beep, beep, gotta get up outta
your seat
Get up little girl

It's time for you to celebrate

"HUMAN NATURE"

This next number was the much talked about video taped cameo of Britney Spears. She appeared on a huge screen with Madonna. The images kept flashing quickly so I couldn't get them all. There was one scene where both Madonna and Britney are being unwrapped like mummies revealing their tiny leather outfits underneath.

Britney, partially disguised by a gray hoodie, walks into the elevator. As she starts traveling upward, she seems particularly nervous and anxious. The popster starts pacing back and forth. Then she progresses to kicking and smacking the walls, all frantic-like. She screams into one of the cameras. Then she starts climbing the wall, pulls down her hood and, into another camera, says:

It's Britney bitch!
Madonna begins to sing "Human Nature"

Did I say nothing wrong?
Oops, I didn't know I couldn't
talk about sex

I'm not apologizing
Would it sound better if I were a man?
You're the one with the problem
Why don't you just deal with it

"VOGUE"
Look around everywhere you turn is heartache

It's everywhere that you go [look around]
You try everything you can to escape

Vogue! Vogue! Vogue!

"DIE ANOTHER DAY"
Madonna didn't appear on stage for this number.
Instead two fighters (dancers) in a ring boxed it out
while the song played in the background and images of
Madonna flashed.

I'm gonna wake up
Yes and no
I'm gonna kiss some part of
I'm gonna keep this secret
I'm gonna close my body now

"INTO THE GROOVE"
-During this number Madonna swung around a dance poll.

Get into the groove
Boy you've got to prove

Your love to me, yeah
Get up on your feet, yeah

Step to the beat
Boy what will it be

"HEARTBEAT"
You know I feel it in my heartbeat
It may feel old to you, but to me it feels new

You know I feel it in my heartbeat
Don’t you know? Can’t you see?
When I dance, I feel free

"BORDERLINE"
-Madonna performed this song in a way she never did before,
on a guitar.

Something in the way you love me won't let me be
I don't want to be your prisoner so baby won't you set me free
Stop playing with my heart
Finish what you start

"SHE'S NOT ME"
I should have seen the sign way back then
When she told me that you were her best friend
And now she’s rolling, rolling, rolling
And you were stolen, stolen, stolen

She's not me
She doesn't have my name

She'll never have what I have
It won't be the same

She's not me
She's not me, and she never will be
Never will be
Never will be!!

"JUMP"
Are you ready to jump?
Get ready to jump

Don’t ever look back, oh baby
Yes, I’m ready to jump
Just take my hands

RAIN REMIX
A musical interlude of
Eurythmics Here Comes The Rain Again

-A circular wall of lights and images of raindrops
swirled around as Here Comes The Rain Again plays.
A figure in a black cloak on top of the piano can be seen.

It's Madonna who emerges out and sings "Rain."

"Rain"
Feel it on my finger tips
Hear it on my window pane
Your love's coming down
like Rain

"DEVIL WOULDN'T RECOGNIZE YOU"
It’s like over and over you’re pushing me right down to the floor
I should just walk away.
Over and over I keep on coming back for more

I play into your fantasy
Now that it’s over you can lie to me right through your smile

Now I'm sober, no more intoxicating my mind
Even the devil wouldn’t recognize you, I do

This part of the show was absolutely entertaining. Joining her on stage
are Gypsy musicians who created a sensation with their
performance!

"SPANISH LESSON"

Yo te quiero means I love you
Mucho gusto means I’m welcome to you

Señorita, I just wanna fall in love
Callate means close your mouth

Besame means give me love
Señorita, she just wanna fall in love

"MILES AWAY"
-This WAS my 2nd favorite song off her new CD.
It has a fantastic flamenco-like beat to it.
Madonna dedicated the song to the 'emotionally retarded.' Fans
began chanting GUY! GUY! GUY! Madonna laughed. Although she did
a great job singing the song and playing the guitar, the song
will never be the same again for me.

...I'm alright, don't be sorry, but it's true
When I'm gone you'll realize
That I'm the best thing that happened to you

You always love me more, miles away
I hear it in your voice, we're miles away

"LA ISLA BONITA"
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free

This is where I long to be La Isla Bonita

"LELA PALA TUTE"

"DOLI-DOLI (Romanian folk song)

-Doing shots.

"YOU MUST LOVE ME"
If I had to pick a favorite moment it would be this particular
performance.
Madonna's vocals for this ballad was simply stunning .
There was not a dry eye in the house.

Deep in my heart I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say

Scared to confess what I'm
feeling

Frightened you'll slip away

-Madonna prolonged the ending: YOU MUST LOVE....while
waiting for the crowd to roar before singing ME!!

"GET STUPID"
-Video interlude about saving the planet
with various images appearing on stage.

"HUNG UP"
Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun

Every little thing that you say
or do
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day

"LIKE A PRAYER"
When you call me name it's like a little
prayer

I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you
there

"4 MINUTES"
Featuring Timbaland and J.Timberlake

If you want it, you already got it
If you thought it
It better be what you want

Time is wasting
We only got 4 minutes to save
the world

"RAY OF LIGHT"
...She's got herself a little piece of heaven

Waiting for the time when earth shall be as one

Quicker than a Ray Of Light

"GIVE IT 2 ME"
(Final Song)
-As soon as the background image appeared and before the
music started Madonna yelled the following words:

I AM THE QUEEN WHO WILL TOPPLE THE
KING!!

They say that a good thing never lasts
And then it has to fall
Those are the people that did not
Amount to much at all

When the lights go down and there's no
one left
I can go on and on and on
Give It 2 Me!

The next morning 'A' and I had breakfast at the hotel breakie bar. I excused myself from the table to tend to something and told 'A' to order me a plate of fresh fruit. Upon my return this is what I found waiting for me:

She ordered me a breakfast full of fat and sugar while ordering a bagel for herself.

Waiting for the valet.....time to go home.

XOXOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess

Wasn't it AMAZING????!!!!

Princess did Madonna do any requests and why didn't you buy the Hard Candy pail?

The 'old school' part of the show I enjoyed even though she killed Borderline (not in a good way) on the guitar. Why Madge why? The Britney-Madonna bondage segment and "Devil Wouldn't..." was splendid.

I know plenty of fifty years old whose bones 'creak' when they move.
I like the way Madonna moves in her video Give It 2 Me.

Princess is it true where you live smoking is banned 100% in clubs, restaurants and in the workplace? Is no one allowed to smoke other than inside their homes?

How did it feel being single at the concert? Were you still able to have a good time?

Do you have an etrog tree?

I loved her theatrics during She's Not Me, what a conniption fit Madonna had!

The most emotional moment of the concert was her singing You Must Love Me. It was chilling.

Madonna's pimping element at the beginning of the show was a smash! M-DOLLA!!

The most disliked song on Hard Candy, "SPANISH LESSON" until I saw her perform it live on stage. I can't stop listening to it.

How many inches are your heels?

Many fans were asking the vendors about it, for some reason it wasn't available at this venue.
Fans wanted her to sing Holiday. Madonna groaned and said,'God not that song!' She sang a few bars before settling on 'Express Yourself'

newbie at 11:06,
Yes we have a smoking ban. You are permitted to smoke outdoors but you must stand so many meters away from the entrance of the establishment.

As for your other question, I'm not following it. Why would a person's relationship status determine whether or not they have a great time at an event?

Princess why do continue posting newbs' questions? The boy is seriously one fig short of a newton.

Newbie how many times did you fail the bar exam?

Peace Out Chickie.

WINE- how could you Princes? Wine is just as bad as GIN.

Next time FLAVORED VODKA.

I like Madonna's pose on the throne.

To say the lyrics to "Hard Candy" are stimulating would be a gross understatement.

1:35, Give the boy some credit. Newbie can count to eleven if he removes every article of clothing.

Madonna's divorce to Guy doesn't appear to be dampening her level of performance.

I can't wait to go through this post in detail... at a domestic violence conference this week, but wanted to tell you I've been waiting for this post!!!

Geez, after reading all that, it is almost like being there, but without haveing to stand in line or having my ears ring....

"Why would a person's relationship status determine whether or not they have a great time at an event?"

A lot of times couples have a more enjoyable time going to concerts.

1:11, I succeeded the first time!

newbie at 3:08,
I'm still not understanding the reasoning behind your comment or what it is you're implying but it's not like I was the only single person at the concert.

Anonymous said...

I haven't heard her new album but I like her songs from Ray of Light.

Princess I would refrain from answering any questions left by newbie. It is clear the boy is not well.

"I AM THE QUEEN WHO WILL TOPPLE THE

--She had to have been talking about Guy.

Anonymous said...

Everyone was in tears while she sang 'You Must Love Me' when I saw her last month.

She originally wrote 'Miles Away' for Guy to describe her feelings when they were apart working.

Princess, looks like you got plenty enough comments on the great show. Am I the only one who happened to notice your picture before the show? Damn! Goodness girl! You looked quite amazing. Wanna come over so I can paint your toes and watch you giggle? I'm glad you had a great time, take care! ;p

I get worn out doing the dishes. I don’t know how Madonna does it night after night. I desire to have half the liveliness she does. What a great concert!

I think ‘A’ is trying to fatten you up.

I'm totally confused by the question of if you were able to have a good time since you were single...huh? Since when is a Madonna concert a couple's thing?

Anonymous said...

1:11, Don't you mean 'the entire cluster of figs' short of a newton?

"How did it feel being single at the concert? Were you still able to have a good time?"

--Seriously what an absurd question to ask!

Princess this is not difficult to comprehend but newbie is not wired to function among the breathing.

6:23, Talk about missing the obvious.

7:19, Agreed!!

6:23, I noticed.

Into The Groove is the only song I am familiar with. I went to see Desperately Seeking Susan in my freshman year. It was suppose to be Rosanna Arquette's big break, Madonna stole the limelight. Good to see you had a great time.

Newbie needs psychiatric help A.S.A.P. although I do question the sanity of the lawyers who he is working for.

Who didn’t feel like crying during You Must Love Me?
I loved when she sang Hearbeat. It’s such a fun and cutesy song.
Her tours get better and better. S&S was my 4th time seeing her.
Princess how many times have you seen her?

10:13-Candy Pail?

Cocaine Princess said...

Anonymous at 3:16

Heartbeat is a cute song and I love the way she sings it.

Some venues were selling a candy pail that said HARD CANDY and inside were a variety of what else? Hard Candy!

I've seen her 8 times.

Madonna is a powerful force! I hope she takes that talentless Brit to the cleaners! His movies suck (With the exception of D.S.Susan and Evita, Madonna isn't really good at acting. She's a much better singer)

Anonymous said...

Princess, you know I went back to some of your very first blogs and read about your hearts longing. Man! I gotta tell you, you spoke about a lot of the same feelings I have. Your views of the universe delivering the messages, being consumed completely by that person, signs and what not, that's real-time to me, thank you for that. People ask me why I'm not married yet and I gotta be honest with 'em when I say "when I get my skull blown back again." (Ahh!'96, there's just something about you emerald latina's!) I'm holding out for that feeling again, because everything else pales in comparison. It does suck at times waiting though. O.K. I'm officially blabbling so I better tuck and run, but I will say this though. The other day I was standing on the roof/outdoor sauna and bar of the probably the only "true" castle in the entire south, while the owner Mr. Post (my customer, this loaded attorney from Miami) is speaking to me about the renovation project and here I am nodding yes saying uh-huh, yeah and all the while daydreaming about this being MY CASTLE! And who do you think popped in my head as to be my Queen? Wahahaaha, YES it's true! (just seemed fitting). Take care! ;p

“Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You”

Once more I cannot resist but pose to you the question of whether or not there is some aspect of the song you can relate to?

Cocaine Princess said...

anonymous at 8:11,
I’m interested in knowing why you referred to me as emerald latina?
Where did you hear that name?

anonymous at 9:19,
It’s getting very tiring having to defend why I like this song.
For the millionth and hopefully last time it is JUST a song. Have you actually had the chance to listen to it? If not I suggest you splurge a little and buy Madonna’s latest CD or download the song.

To be honest I had forgotten all about that.

Finally...... I sit with my "Cup-o-joe" and read your entire blog... alone -- Finally --

Going through your pics, comments and lyrics was almost like being there! You must have been close -- She puts on quite the show... no wonder she works out 4 hours a day, no normal person could sustain such a performance --

I would have loved to see "Vogue" and the other song you said everyone was chanting "Guy" about -- (although, sorry for the bad association...) --

I couldn't be more thrilled for your experience!

OMG Princess! Looking at your pictures was like being at the concert all over again! This was my third time seeing her and I'm looking forward in going to many more!

Madonna's performance for She's Not Me is exactly how I pictured it.

The gypsy dancers brought an exotic element to the show. Love how she closed it but I was pretty surprised she didn't end with Holiday like she usually does.

I love Madonna's ability to constantly change and reinvent her look, style and music. Both Ray Of Light and American Life were ok. Most of the songs from Confessions and Hard Candy are dance tunes. Glad to see she went back to her roots.
