Cocaine Princess here.
Every Sunday in my home is regarded as “Lazy Sunday.” I hardly do a thing. When The Boys Of Summer were staying with us Lazy Sunday had been put on hold but now that they have left {and yes I still miss them} Lazy Sundays are back in full swing.
This past Sunday I decided to catch up on some movies. I went to the “Unwatched DVD” pile and picked out a few.
Saw 1-3
The franchise revolves around the fictional character of John Kramer, also called the "Jigsaw Killer" or simply Jigsaw, introduced briefly in Saw and in more detail in Saw II, who, rather than killing his victims outright, traps them in situations which he calls "tests" or "games", to test their will to live via physical or psychological torture.
All I have to say: if you’re a fan of torture~porn movies like Hostel 1&2 then I strongly recommend the Saw franchise, if not, stay away. Hmm, then again to quote Stephen King: “torture porn....sure it makes you uncomfortable, but good art should make you uncomfortable.”
“The Haunting in Connecticut” {2009}
This film is supposedly based on the "true story" of Carmen Snedeker as portrayed by the author Ray Garton in the book In a Dark Place. The film's story follows the fictional Campbells as they move into a house to mitigate the strains of travel on their cancer-stricken son, Matthew. The family soon becomes haunted by violent and traumatic events from supernatural forces occupying the house.
This was one very interesting film and I really enjoyed it.

“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” {2009}
The film follows a traveling theater troupe whose leader, Doctor Parnassus having made a bet with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations and face them with a choice between good and evil.
Heath Ledger, Christopher Plummer, Lily Cole, and Tom Waits star in the film, though Ledger's death one-third of the way through filming caused production to be temporarily suspended. Ledger's role was recast with Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell portraying transformations of Ledger's character as he travels through a dream world.
I totally loved this film and no it isn’t because my favorite actor Johnny Depp happens to be in it. (although him being in the film is a bonus) The visuals in this film are absolutely stunning and so colorful! Good news: "Pirates of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides" is currently being filmed. Click here for an update from Captain Jack Sparrow himself. Ahoy Mateys!
“Mortuary”
The Doyle family move to the small town of Santa Loraina, California moving into a home where the townsfolk suspect that the land the home lies on is haunted and the cemetery on the property to be the living place of a sadistic monster.
I found this DVD at Staples Business Depot of all places. I was there with sister a while back who needed to pick up some things. I had no idea they began selling not only DVDs but did you know they have a food aisle now? Dry foods, pop, chocolates, hard candy and potato chips! Anyways this particular movie was directed by Tobe Hooper and went straight to DVD. Most B-movies are considered cheesy with bad acting and bad story~lines. I found this one to be the complete opposite.
So there you have it, how I spent my Lazy Sunday. So, have any of my lovelies seen any good movies lately?

My loyal and dear readers it’s finally Friday and I’m so glad that it is!

Never imagined seeing Verne Troyer receive top billing along side two Academy Award Nominees.
ALL the "Saw" movies were the SAME to me, so I quit watching them halfway through the second one, lol.
Been there, SAW that.
I love Dr. Parnassus...Pretty much if it has the very hot Heath Ledger in it it is good!!! I liked Haunting in Connecticut....I haven't seen the others though...
Christiejolu at 11:13,
I know from the pictures on your blog you're a HUGE fan of Heath. He was a very talented actor. Loved him in "A Knight's Tale" and his portrayal of The Joker.
I'm a big fan of the horror genre. But I thought that the Hostel films were far superior to the SAW franchise. Have you ever seen HENRY: portrait of a serial killer? A true story that was rated X for the extreme violence and graphic details.
It was #2 on the bravo channel's list of scariest movies of all time.
Krippled Warrior at 4:53,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
I've never heard about the movie "Henry" but I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks!
i honestly thought the FIRST Saw was a smart, stylish horror movie.
the rest, ive pretty much thought of as crap.
Lets just say your taste in film and mine differ somewhat. I just finished watching a film from Netflix called "The Quiet Earth"....subtle science fiction that I had seen originally back in the 1980s. Very good stuff, even my wife liked it.
But as for Horror-Porn, I have only seen one of the genre. I have come to the conclusion that the target audience for this type of cinema is women. I don't think men find it quite as fascinating. Regardless, the film I saw was entitled "Hard Candy", about a young 14 year old girl that is lured to a house by a photographer. The tables quickly turn and the girl has an agenda, the least of which is torturing and castrating the photographer. VERY uncomfortable stuff......you would love it.

I haven't seen that one but
The Last House On The Left {Remake} has a similar storyline where the parents get their brutal revenge on the people who attacked their daughter
Just found your blog... Is that you?? The first pic? I need some advice. How do I look that good?
