Countdown Day #18: "If You Have A Special Occasion To Get Drunk & Wasted...."

Cocaine Princess here.

Good Monday Morning! It's the start of a brand new spanking week and more importantly we are inching closer and closer to Halloween. To be exact there are only 13 days left. I told you we were inching closer!!

My lovelies, I present to you Day #18 Halloween themed drinkie:

Monday October 18th 2010,
"Zombie"
{If you really need to feel like a zombie, you gotta drink one!}

"If you have a special occasion to get drunk and wasted, here’s the drink for you: Zombie! There a many recipes for this cocktail, but they have one thing in common: you’ll feel like a Zombie afterwards. The Zombie is a cocktail made of fruit juices, liqueurs, and various rums, so named for its perceived effects upon the drinker. It first appeared in the late 1930s, invented by Donn Beach (formerly Ernest Raymond Beaumont-Gannt) of Hollywood’s Don the Beachcomber restaurant. The 1939 World’s Fair was it’s debut and it is still perfect to enjoy for a relaxing happy hour, tropical summer drink or a haunting Halloween party cocktail. The drink is mentioned by the doctor in the 1943 film I Walked With a Zombie as the final example of what the definition of a zombie might entail. Frances Dee’s character responds, “I tried one once, but there wasn’t anything dead about it.”

INGREDIENTS:
*1 1/4 oz lemon juice
*1 oz dark rum
*3/4 oz orange juice
*1/2 oz cherry brandy
*1/2 oz light rum
*1/2 oz high-proof dark rum
*2 dashes grenadine

PREPARATION:
1.Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
2.Shake well.
3.Strain into a highball glass with crushed ice.

Tomorrow Drinkie #19.

XOXOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess

I rarely feel the urge to add anything to DARK RUM. But I am a very big fan of everything Zombie-esque. George Romero is the barometer against which all horror films must be measured.
