Countdown Day #8 & Teenagers Who Moon Tourists

Cocaine Princess here.

It's officially autumn up here. The weather is a little cooler, the leaves are scattered all over the lawn, driveway and sidewalks. Fall Foliage tours are in full swing as people sitting in buses roll down their windows to take snap shots of colorful leaves which at this moment have turned to a burnt orangey-red shade. Last week when one of the buses made their way into our area a small group of male teens all decided it would be funny to moon the leaf peepers. From what I heard the senior citizens on the bus received quite an eyeful. Imagine for a moment if you will, you’re on a bus oohing and ahhing at the sight of pretty fall leaves when suddenly you see the pasty bare buttocks of 6 teenagers. Although the teens were old enough to know better you must admit it was a pretty CHEEKY thing to do! Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t see the fascination with fall foliage. It’s not too much of a big deal. I much prefer the tropical scene: crystal clear water, warm sugar white sand and swaying palm trees.

This weekend will mark the 1st first Long Holiday Weekend of Fall: It's our Thanksgiving. It is indeed a special day. A celebration to give thanks at the close of the harvest season; being thankful for what one has and the bounty of the previous year.

Like my neighbors down south we too have a football team although the sport is not very popular.  Attendance records are always quite low. Canada's top professional football league, the Canadian Football League, holds a nationally-televised doubleheader known as the "Thanksgiving Day Classic." It is one of two weeks in which the league plays on Monday afternoons, the other being the Labour Day Classic. Unlike the Labour Day games, the teams that play on the Thanksgiving Day Classic rotate each year.

And no, I won’t be watching the game.

It maybe the long holiday weekend but no worries the drinkie countdown continues. There are 23 days until CANDY, CANDY, CANDY!!

My lovelies, I present to you Day #8 Halloween themed drinkie:

Friday October 8th 2010
"Sour Witch"

Sour Witch Cocktail - Lucid Absinthe Halloween Cocktail

The Sour Witch is a wicked little cocktail but it tastes so good that it's tempting to have more than one even though you know that is probably not the best idea. This fantastic Halloween cocktail which features Lucid Absinthe, but this is an absinthe cocktail with class and a lot of flavor. To offset the anise of the absinthe this drink includs the sweet flavor of almond syrup, the tart of lime and the sour of cherries. It is all topped off with the elegance of a dry champagne to balance everything out.

INGREDIENTS:
* 1 1/2 oz. Lucid Absinthe
* 3/4 oz. almond syrup
* 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
* 3 or 4 pitted sour cherries
* Sparkling wine or Champagne
* Grated nutmeg for garnish

PREPARATION:
1. In the bottom of a mixing glass, muddle the sour cherries in the lime juice and almond syrup.
2. Add the Lucid with ice and shake very well.
3. Strain into a chilled champagne flute.
4. Top with sparkling wine or champagne.
5. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

Bottoms up!

Tomorrow Drinkie #9.

My loyal and dear readers it's finally Friday!

Was it just me or did this week go by dreadfully s-l-o-w? Hmm, perhaps it was my lack of sleep that made it seem that way.

TRUE FACT: This October has 5 Fridays, Saturdays and 5 Sundays; it happens only once in 823 years.

If there are any readers up here, “Happy Thanksgiving”  If not, “Happy Thanksgiving to moi!”

Whatever your plans are have a wonderful weekend.~x

XOXOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess

Mooning is a tradition. A sort of right of passage, both for the mooner and the moonie.

As for the leaves, you don't notice them much until you live somewhere where their aren't any. Then you sort of wax nostalgic about them. They are a childhood things. If you were a child and racked the leaves and jumped in the pile and then burned them (something that is no longer done), they always bring back those childhood memories. If you never had them when you were a little girl, their meaning might be sort of lost on you.

Bruce at 1:21,
Lotus, I actually did use to jump into pile of leaves when I was little and it was a lot of fun but now Fall just is a reminder that dreadful season of Winter is just around the corner.
