Disgraced designer John Galliano and Givenchy presented their collections today.
Givenchy
Neoclassicism and traditional nun habits were on the inspiration menu, so Creative director Riccardo Tisci set a ceremonial tone with live organ music by Mathias Lecomte and DJ Disco Dromo.
The show opened with a powder-blue dress and mock turtleneck, one sleeve and a soft ruffle framing the shoulders and body — a graceful and soft update of a staple couture effect that Tisci used throughout the lineup.
Collars were key, and when they weren’t part of the garment, they were emphasized with thick metal chokers. Tisci’s priestesses of high style were mostly evening-bound in slim silhouettes, which ranged from column gowns with striking, exposed backs to the tri-layered pieces for which the designer is known for.
Once again, the high~low look:
Galliano
There was a great deal of Japanese influence in John Galliano SS13. Hats were done by Stephen Jones.
The high~low dress: A repeated trend as seen in London and Milan.
Tomorrow: Day 7: Another epic day in the Fashion World-- Hedi Slimane presents his debut line.

Day 5: Paris Fashion Week SS13
Cocaine Princess here.
You know the popular phrase a picture is worth a thousand words, well the pictures from Jean Paul Gaultier SS13 say it all.
The designer paid homage to the 80s!!!
Just because there's an economic crisis, doesn't mean we all have to act all miserable, and show depressing clothes," the designer joked with reporters after the show, midway through Paris Fashion Week.
Grace Jones.

The Queen AKA Madonna!!
Michael Jackson.
Sade.
"In the 80s there were all these crazy looks, whereas nowadays it's all about copying what others are doing, like kind of clones," Gaultier said.

Day 4: Paris Fashion Week SS13
Cocaine Princess here.
For my weekly Friday post click here.
Out of all the cities that held Fashion Week: New York, London, Milan and Paris
an even though the title of "Fashion Capital Of The World" has been given to London,
Paris has been the most talked about on account of the two biggest rival fashion houses are set to go head-to-head with their respective new creative directors. Raf Simmons of Christian Dior and Heidi Silmane of SLP (formerly YSL) God, how I hate the name change-- Click here to read my post (if you've forgotten) about my thoughts.
If you recall, Belgian designer Raf Simons was hired after John Galliano was sacked. You remember John Galliano, right? One of the biggest designers in the world who was disgraced after he was caught on a camera phone back in February 2011 making anti-Semitic remarks that cost him not only his job but also trouble with the law.
The designer held his first ever Ready To Wear collection for the world to see. Hey no pressure, right? The venue took place at the Jardin des Invalides. The interior was totally white, square cutouts for windows & light sheer curtains were softly blowing.
Celebrities in attendance included Kanye West, Robert De Niro, Leelee Sobiekso, The Princess of Thailand and designer Diane von Furstenberg.
The collection was bloody fantastic! Raf Simon's inspiration: “The spirit of freedom as embraced by Christian Dior when he established the house in 1947, rebelling against wartime restrictions with the ultra feminine, full-skirted collection dubbed the New Look. I looked back to Mr. Dior’s period after the war and then at the whole idea in the ’60s and ’70s of psychological and sexual freedom and liberation.”
The pieces were sleek, black wardrobe staples; bright, asymmetric designs; and hints of metallic. He brought a new look to the House Of Dior by creating pieces that were wearable and not so much on the couture end.
The show opened to a sleek, modern take on the black suit. {Check out Anna Wintour to the left paying close attention-- dressed in a grey jacket and dark shades}
I love the use of iridescent. Bubble/Ball Gown style tops over black shorts.
A mini ballgown style dress:
I love this piece. Look how soft the color is:
Asymmetrical dress:
Floral ball gowns paired with black crew-neck sweater. (Throw back to his days at Jil Sanders}
How darling is Raf Simmon's take on the LBD!
Forget the big poofy ballgown. It's all about the high~low:
Bravo Raf!

Day 3: Paris Fashion Week SS13
Cocaine Princess here.
Today was an amazing day for fashion and perhaps the biggest of them all in terms of shows. There were 12 collections shown in 12 hours. Here are the highlights from 3 of the 12.
"Balenciago"
Perhaps the biggest news surrounding this collection was not what creative director Nicolas Ghesquière was bringing to the catwalk but the arrival of actress Kristen Stewart who is the face of the label-- and whether or not the rumors were true? Had she and Twilight heart~throb Robert Patterson patched things up and if so, would he also be in attendance? Kristen appeared without Robert dressed head to toe in Balenciaga: a bright yellow leather biker jacket, floral pants, a black top and instead of her usual All-Star Converse runners she wore ankle boots. Here she is seated beside Vogue editor, Anna Wintour.
A closer look at her outfit:
Other celebrities included Mexican actress Salma Hayek who appeared alongside her husband François-Henri Pinault, the CEO of PPR - fashion company which owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent among others.
The show opened up to a white sports style bra wrapped around the torso paired with high waisted pants.
A double-breasted trouser suit in pale yellow paired with the white sports style bra added a feminine touch.
Other pieces included a nice structured skirt with peplum style ruffles that gave it a flamenco vibe.
This next piece appears to be tweed, right? It's actually silk embroidery on organza, to keep the garment weightless. The gold buttons added a nice touch.
Brogue shoe with a chunky/block heel.
"Nina Ricci"
I could hardly contain my excitement for this show. It was set for 6pm Paris Time. 10minutes went by.....20min.......35min. As they say there's late and then there's fashionably late! 40 minutes later the show FINALLY took off. It was definitely worth the wait. The venue for the show took place at the Place de la Concorde. I love the invite and how they incorporated the use of the brand's label:
The show's opening was brilliant-- thousands of flower petals were dropped from the ceiling landing on the runway.
The collection was very gentle, soft and ultra feminine as one would expect from the fashion house. Pieces included floaty chiffon tops with skirts embellished with fringes.
There was a 1920s feel to this collection but little features like zippers kept the pieces modern though.
The color palette included silver, blush pink and lavender and turquoise.-- doesn't get any more springy than that now does it? How beautiful is the draping across the shoulders? Love the pop of color by adding the lavender colored clutch.
My favorite piece from the entire collection.
Designer Peter Copping mentioned he took inspiration from Le poème "De l'air dans la femme" de Baudelaire.
English Translation:
"Lanvin"
Lanvin 2013 was all about black and the asymmetrical look.
How amazing is the tailoring on this suit?
Other pieces included a sequence jumpsuit modeled by 90s supermodel Kristen McMenamy whose daughter, Lily will make her catwalk debut for YSL.
Love this!
Dresses in the Lanvin collection were simple yet so sexy and featured a tight waist enclosure.
A must for my collection!
Tomorrow: Day 4: Paris Fashion Week....I can tell you now it's going to be epic! Raf vs. Heidi. Stay tuned.

Day 2: Paris Fashion Week SS13
Cocaine Princess here.
Welcome to Day 2 of "Paris Fashion Week." There were 3 big ticket shows today from the City of Lights.
"Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2013"
55 pieces were shown on the catwalk set to the music of Amy Winehouse's "Black To Back" and Sonic Youth, "Superstar." Van Noten stated, “I wanted to go back to having fun with clothes. It has that kind of men’s wear/women’s wear, kind of grungy, spontaneous feel.”
I'm not a fan of the grunge look however if you enjoy mixing prints with floral and wearing loose comfortable clothing, Dries Van Noten shows you how it's done. His collection featured one too many plaid button-down shirt and pieces that looked manly but were constucted in light fabrics giving the clothes a feminie feel. Organa skirts had plenty of embellishments worn over metallic jackets.
P.S. How cool is the invite? It was made from silver~leaf.
"Gareth Pugh Spring Summer 2013"
The invite for the show:
Placed along the runway were dry ice and smoke machines. When the smoke machines went off the so did the music. The show's soundtrack was set to a capella rendition of the Spanish song "Llorando" -- made famous in David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive." First up on the runway --- I didn't know quite know what to expect BUT I certainly wasn't expecting this:
A sleeveless noir gown crowned with a two-foot mourner's veil. Later I found out Gareth was paying homage to Diane Pernet.
The color black dominated several pieces which is an usual color choice for spring. There were plenty of flared trousers, leather capes and a grey colored pantsuit followed by a high-necked red colored suede dress.
It was a very dark and sinister collection. The British designer said "he drew inspiration from the worlds of flamenco and cockfighting for his latest spring look, built around a sober palette of black, white, ice blue and blood red." Don't worry, I didn't quite get it either. All that kept popping in my mind was Mortica Adams.
"Guy Laroche"
This collection was simply fantastic. The show opened to "Wouldn't It Be Good" by The Beach Boys and it was all retro sex appeal as key pieces included plunging necklines, showing your mid-riff and halter style crops tops. I totally adore these 2 outfits from the collection:
Colors included navy blended with aqua and pastel. Crepe and silk was used for most of the pieces.
The French-Swedish fashion designer Marcel Marongiu stated he was inspired by Frank Gehry-- which explains the use of contemporary panels and sculptured lines which was clearly seen in his collection and even in the platform shoes that came with a metal heel.
The collection may have been inspired by architecture but all I could think of was the French Riviera. Très Chic!
"Thierry Mugler"
How cute are those aqua colored sandals?! The company also unveiled a new handbag collection on the runway and will be selling high end handbags, clutches and totes. Below is a picture of "The Naboo Bag" inspired by their fashion house's muse-- Lady Gaga’s buttocks. And no, I'm not making that up!

Lady Gaga who has been a muse for the fashion house sent along a new, unreleased single for the soundtrack titled “Cake,” that played during the show. Nicola Formichetti, the creative director drew inspiration from the Far East. The show opened with a brown winged shoulder dress.
Other pieces included skin tight dresses with protruding peplum style tops.
