Today was an amazing day for fashion and perhaps the biggest of them all in terms of shows. There were 12 collections shown in 12 hours. Here are the highlights from 3 of the 12.
"Balenciago"
Perhaps the biggest news surrounding this collection was not what creative director Nicolas Ghesquière was bringing to the catwalk but the arrival of actress Kristen Stewart who is the face of the label-- and whether or not the rumors were true? Had she and Twilight heart~throb Robert Patterson patched things up and if so, would he also be in attendance? Kristen appeared without Robert dressed head to toe in Balenciaga: a bright yellow leather biker jacket, floral pants, a black top and instead of her usual All-Star Converse runners she wore ankle boots. Here she is seated beside Vogue editor, Anna Wintour.
A closer look at her outfit:
Other celebrities included Mexican actress Salma Hayek who appeared alongside her husband François-Henri Pinault, the CEO of PPR - fashion company which owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent among others.
The show opened up to a white sports style bra wrapped around the torso paired with high waisted pants.
A double-breasted trouser suit in pale yellow paired with the white sports style bra added a feminine touch.
Other pieces included a nice structured skirt with peplum style ruffles that gave it a flamenco vibe.
This next piece appears to be tweed, right? It's actually silk embroidery on organza, to keep the garment weightless. The gold buttons added a nice touch.
Brogue shoe with a chunky/block heel.
"Nina Ricci"
I could hardly contain my excitement for this show. It was set for 6pm Paris Time. 10minutes went by.....20min.......35min. As they say there's late and then there's fashionably late! 40 minutes later the show FINALLY took off. It was definitely worth the wait. The venue for the show took place at the Place de la Concorde. I love the invite and how they incorporated the use of the brand's label:
The show's opening was brilliant-- thousands of flower petals were dropped from the ceiling landing on the runway.
The collection was very gentle, soft and ultra feminine as one would expect from the fashion house. Pieces included floaty chiffon tops with skirts embellished with fringes.
There was a 1920s feel to this collection but little features like zippers kept the pieces modern though.
My favorite piece from the entire collection.
Designer Peter Copping mentioned he took inspiration from Le poème "De l'air dans la femme" de Baudelaire.
English Translation:
"Lanvin"
Lanvin 2013 was all about black and the asymmetrical look.
How amazing is the tailoring on this suit?
Other pieces included a sequence jumpsuit modeled by 90s supermodel Kristen McMenamy whose daughter, Lily will make her catwalk debut for YSL.
Love this!
Dresses in the Lanvin collection were simple yet so sexy and featured a tight waist enclosure.
A must for my collection!
Tomorrow: Day 4: Paris Fashion Week....I can tell you now it's going to be epic! Raf vs. Heidi. Stay tuned.
XOXOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess
