Cocaine Princess here.
*Sigh* No real good news in the sleep department. I'm lucky if I'm able to get 3hrs a night of sleep these days. One late night while channel surfing I became entranced by some type of cooking utensil device which is strange considering I don't have a domestic bone in my body. It was then I realized no more late night TV for me, at least no more infomercials. As I continued channel surfing a movie was about to begin that caught by interest. A movie I had been wanting to see but just didn't get around to it: "W.E." A film by Madonna.
The film tells the tale of the infamously scandalous affair of King Edward VIII (played by James D'Arcy) and Wallis Simpson (played by Andrea Riseborough) for whom, in the 1930s, he gave up everything for, even abdicating the throne of England. Being a twice-divorced American, Wallis Simpson was a woman the monarchy would never accept, and because of that, King Edward left everything behind for love. The film concurrently takes us back to 1998 and Wally Winsthrop (played by Abbie Cornish) a woman who was named after Ms. Simpson by her Wallis-obsessed mother and who also finds herself in a marriage that is not living up to the magic she expected it to be, a fact which is brought more to life by the flirtations of a Russian security guard she encounters at an auction of the Windsor Estate at Sotheby's.
Before the film was even released it was bashed by the critics and given harsh reviews simply because it was connected to Madonna. I'm not saying this because Madonna happens to be my all time favorite singer but I really loved the movie. In my opinion the movie is brilliantly directed and written. What I liked most is how the timeline presented in the film ranges from pre-World War II England (1936–37) to New York in 1998, and the storyline swaps between these two eras. Madonna decided to use the Sotheby's auction of Edward and Simpson's estate in 1998, to flash backward from. Using archival pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier recreated the jewels Edwards showered Wallis with while designers like Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Madeleine Vionnet and Elsa Schiaparelli and London's Savile Row recreated the costumes. It's noted in the film that Ms. Simpson was a fashion icon and couture client well before meeting Edward.
The pop Queen decided to make this film because she was trying to understand the nature of their love story and trying to figure out if there is such a thing as "perfect love." She investigated the history behind the abdication and tried to understand what led Edward to leave his royal throne.
So my lovelies, would you give up everything for love?
The song "Masterpiece" for which Madonna received a Golden Globe for "Best Song" plays during the film's end credits. What beautiful lyrics they are....
"And I'm right by your side
Like a thief in the night
I stand in front of a masterpiece
And I can't tell you why
It hurts so much
To be in love with the masterpiece...."
....And Madonna's voice for this song is so angelic and flawless.

Fashion Friday News
If you recall I posted an entry
about actor Brad Pitt becoming the 1st ever male spokesmodel for the
perfume Chanel No. 5. He was paid $7 million dollars to appear in an ad
that was ridiculed. If you haven't seen it yet, trust me it's worth a good laugh-- click on the above highlighted link to see it. Anyways, the perfume is
now facing a possible ban because of an allergy-inducing ingredients it contains.
The show stopper of the night featured Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio (seen below) wearing a $2.5 million dollar "Fantasy Bra" that featured 5,200 precious and semi-precious stones including amethysts, sapphires, rubies and white, pink and yellow diamonds. The show will broadcast on Tuesday, December 4th on CBS right in time for the holiday season.

U know I love History so I loved reading this.
Those Victoria Secrets models r fabulous.
Men well in my opinion they are not holding up to what God intended. Such whiny pots and they just do not do anything any more to woo a woman or protect her. Well most of them. Thank goodness I am in a world of testosterone and egos. I told my Dad a few months ago u can forget me marrying cuz I have not found a man stronger than me and at 46-years old I do not think I will.
This is funny. Wednesday night Coffeehouse called and asked me would I come in. For someone who resigned and call me for emergencies I seem to still work there at least once a week. Anywho a weary woman traveler about 60 or so feel asleep in one of the chairs. She wasn't bothering anyone so we let her be. Better for her to rest and then carry on in her travels safely. The place was packed and busy. Next thing I know she had wiggled her sweater up to her shoulders and was wearing no bra. I flew across the floor and yanked her sweater down as there was a young boy near her and he need not be seeing naked breasts. Hers anyway. They were not the perkiest. I told the staff we r gonna have to keep an eye on her so she does not get naked again. She slept for five hours. The things one sees. Amazing.
Monday is Veterans' Day. I am headed to my professor and his wife's cabin with them. They r older couple and I have known them for awhile anyway. They said come enjoy some time away plus the Professor said u and I can take this time to work on ur paper. I told u this class is kicking my bum. A lot of reading and I feel like I am playing catch up. But I love it.
I start volunteering Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery. I get tSaturday, November 17th to delve into their history records as my project. I am so going to enjoy that project.
Hope all is well with u.
Good morning, Princess... that's an intriguing question you ask... about whether or not to give up everything for Love.
Don't you think, when in Love, we all give up something or another?
Thank you for the reminder about your 'Remembrance Day'... I am intrigued that, so many years after the end of WWII, that the wonderful people of The Netherlands... Holland, still maintain the American cemeteries there... I am sure they do so for the soldiers of all countries who helped to liberate them during that time of our world's history.
Have a wonderful weekend...

Miss Stormy Marples at 3:20,
How very nice of your prof! Have a great time at the cabin.
Good Morning Shoes,
You are so right & I totally agree, when in love we all give up something.
Thank you, have a wonderful weekend too.
My Professor and his wife are very kind and sweet people. I get close to people. Can u tell?
Life is too short to keep people at a distance.
U miss out on so much if u are too scared to let people get close to u.
My new male friend from Facebook that knows all my family from Greenwood we are having a tendency to "debate" a lot of things. However, I am getting to know a lot of Christian females via this group of people including my gal cousins of course. I do believe I will be starting to spend a lot of time with my aunt, cousins and new gal friends in Greenwood.
I am not down on men just disappointed they don't step up to the bat anymore and behave like a man. It is disheartening to me a woman that I feel I have to carry the relationship.
I am so super excited about Elmwood Cemetery.
I'm surprised my last comment showed up. I had such trouble with it getting the approval that I finally just left it be without getting back an ok that this went through for ur approval. Amazing computers they have a mind of their own.
P.S. Have u ever seen the movie with Drew Barrymore "Happily Ever After." It has to be one of my favorite movies. Drew's character is a strong but loving woman. Fiesty but there is a reason behind her feistiness. I think it time to watch it again. I have to say I love it when the Wizard tells the Prince "U don't deserve her." I mean truly he did but he did not appreciate her nor protect her. He judged her before he knew really why she did what she did. I love that love story. It's one of my favorites. Plus it has some funny moments.
Miss Stormy Marples at 11:39,
It's been ages since I've seen it.
I have never even heard of the movie. Interesting! I'll have to check it out... And Justin Bieber does look a tad odd, but maybe it is because he still looks as if he hasn't hit puberty, yet! :)
Hope your weekend was wonderful!
That Brazilian is a little too skinny, no? I watch a lot of "movies" with Brazilian "actresses" with great big boobs and butts, and they're amazing to behold. Also, I would still rail Madonna.
Miss Caught Up at 2:46,
You're right about Justin Bieber!
Yes, I had a wonderful weekend, thanks for asking and hope you did too.
Kenneth Noisewater at 7:31,
There has been a lot of criticism lately with the VS models in regards to their weight.
