I know what you're thinking, a midweek post from the Colombian Princess? How unusual? Not really considering I'm still on holidays and so off with my schedule that I have no idea what day of the week it is unless I check the front page of the paper. All I knew was when I awoken it was the day after New Years, aka "Day Of Recovery."
I trust everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a blast ringing in the New Year. {I'll be blogging about my holidays next week} January is a month known for resolutions. I myself have never been known to make any. I've never been one to say, "Okay, this year I'm going to start eating healthy and exercise" only because I already do year round. I came across an interesting article about starting the New Year with a "mental detox." Hmm, a mental detox, how very interesting I thought. There are 6 steps:
For a more in~depth look at each of the steps click on the highlighted link above.
1. Do 30 minutes of exercise three times a week.
2. Plot each day in advance.
3. Do your top to-dos first.
4. Finish what you start.
5. Aim for small, continuous improvement.
6. Recharge your mental battery.
We take care of our bodies but we often sometimes neglect to take care of ourselves internally which is just as important. I found that during the day and especially more so at night my mind races with thought after thought so part of my daily workout routine includes 30 minutes of yoga/mediation. Although my mind has trouble being quiet during the night~time, I feel good and calm during the daytime that I am able to quiet my thoughts.
The other day I was reminded by someone that I actually did make a resolution a few years ago on my blog which I completely had forgotten about. Learning to use chopsticks. I shamefully admit that I am one of those individuals you see when dining in a Chinese restaurant that uses a fork. Let it be known that 2013 will be the year the Princess masters the art of using chopsticks.
And perhaps a couple more resolutions:
Ignore the haters.
Usually I'm good at not caring what others think of me but once in awhile someone comes along that knows how to push your buttons. There's a wise saying, "He who angers you, conquers you."
Live life with even more passion.
Enough said!

Red Shoes at 6:49,
When I first saw the pics I thought "that is so awesome!"
Happy New Year & *Huggles* back to you, friend.
U r right I am always "delightfully" surprised when I see a post before Thursday late evening from the Princess.
I don't make resolutions either.
Say what u want. Do what u want (as long as it is not harmful to someone else) Live life they way u want too.
Haters--really no need to waste time on anyone whom takes away from ur joy in any capacity whether they hate u or just don't know how to love at all.
"Buttons" always keeps me in line and on target. Just looking into his gray face, I see what is really important. Love--unconditional love and the ability to love. He is the only reminder I need to get back to what is true and right.
The mental detox sounds like what I did every day when I worked for the state, just to keep my sanity. Needless to say, after 21 years, it really didn't work, but I survived.
Chopsticks, can't eat sushi without them....and it is like using your fingers to play with your food.
My only resolution, don't let stupid people bother me so much.
Happy New Year!
Bruce at 6:28,
Good resolution!! Happy New Year.
I hope you are having a happy start of 2013! I need to start a resolution list! I think I would have to say, 1. is to organize everything.
I'll probably have to steal some of your resolution ideas, too, especially number 4! :)
Happy New Year to you too!!!
My resolutions? Hmmmmm, well they are to laugh more and stress less, to travel more and procrastinate less... oh and to write more and to talk less (to the relief of most of my friends and colleagues... haha!). Seriously though, there have been a few things I have wanted to do for a long time that I haven't done yet. A new year is always a good time to start. And on top of all of that, I am now in training to get fit enough to head off to the Himalayas to visit Everest Base Camp (I think I'll be following use your 6 detox steps during the process).
Oh, you really must learn to use chopsticks Madame CP!!! Chinese food is so much more delicious when eaten with using them. I look forward to reading about your success!
Once again, Happy New Year to you and I hope 2013 brings you lots of good moments.

Thank you my friend for the good wishes & the same to you.
Good luck to you with these. I'm sure you'll take care of business.
I'm trying to not eat out as much and stop spending so much money at bars.
