Long Weekend: The Queen VS Beer

Cocaine Princess here.

It's the Long Weekend for us Canadians.

Happy Victoria Day! Or is that May 2-4?

The May long weekend holiday (which takes place May 18th) is officially known as Victoria Day, after the long-reigning British monarch. But in recent years Canadians began calling the weekend the May Two-Four weekend, after the copious amounts of beer that gets drunk on the first (fingers-crossed) summery weekend of the year.

A survey that took place a few years back showed one in five Canadians don't think we should celebrate Victoria Day because Canada's ties to the U.K. are no longer as important and fewer people have a clue about the holiday's history. Of the 1,000 Canadians surveyed, 45% were of British ancestry. Those 65 and older were far more supportive of Victoria Day compared to those 18 to 34.But the Monarchist League of Canada says most of us are in favor of the monarchy despite the changing demographics. For Canadians, the Victoria Day long weekend has traditionally been one of the top five selling weeks of the year.

Whether it's celebrating the late Queen's birthday or raising a toast and firing up the grill I'm just glad it's the Long Weekend. The Unofficial Start To Summer has arrived!!

My loyal and dear readers, it's finally Friday.
Whatever your plans are have a fantastic weekend.~x

That's quite funny, because there's no such thing as "Victoria Day" in the UK. Your arms and shoulders might be even more attractive than your legs, Miss Princess. I hope we'll see more of them!
