Cocaine Princess here.
Happy December 1st my lovelies!
There are 24 days until Christmas.
{For the month of November we had absolutely no snow. The last time this happened was in 1937. So far it’s just been bitterly cold and rainy}
I love the holiday season. It’s such a magical and twinkling time of year. Christmas Carolers everywhere singing, some in tune and some out of tune, getting dolled up for all the parties and let's not forget about all the decadent, rich foods and sugary desserts. I heard recently the average person gains nearly 6 kg {12 pounds} over the holiday season.
One of the best things I love to do is shopping for gifts for all my loved ones. Hey, who doesn’t love being pushed, shoved and elbowed by cranky stressed out customers who forget 'tis the season to be jolly or trying to find a mall parking space? One person I always have trouble shopping for is my sister. Why? Because {and I mean this in the nicest possible way} it's frigging frustrating because she never wants or asks for anything, ever. She gives me the same reply every single year when I ask her what she wants. “I don’t need anything darling.” Now of course I’m not going to listen to that but how do you shop for someone who says that? What do you buy them? She hasn't even given me a hint or even a clue as to what she wants this year. One year I took her Christmas shopping. Oh my God it was the most excruciating experiences in my life. I literally had to physically take her by the hand and drag her into all of her favorite stores. Once inside she refused to let me buy her anything and kept saying: “You don't have to buy me anything. It's not necessary.” I had to force her to pick something out. Let's just say by the end of the day I wanted to pull my hair out. It isn’t just at Christmas but on birthdays too. The only time she ever asked for something was on her birthday in '08. She wanted tickets to the Eagles concert and insisted I come along with her. Oh what sheer joy I had. I knew only one song.

All of you should know by now I love Peanuts.
I present to you the famous tree from "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
It stands 18cm and even came with Linus' blue blankie and a red ornament....and in case you're wondering what the little blue bottle is: that is a mini bottle of Tequila. My sister's bright idea.
Speaking of tequila, "A" constantly pushes me to have a little drinkie at night. “It’ll help unwind you a little,” she says. Hmm, I suppose her heart is in the right place but I plan to keep my promise: no drinkie until December 31st 2009. On Saturday she whipped up 2 taste-a-licious Festive Mocktails. Actually I only found 1 of them taste-a-licious. Here are the recipes:
“THE ICICLE”
To a blender add 1 cup of ice, 2 scoops vanilla ice cream,1 small candy cane, crushed, and 3 oz. milk. Blend and pour into a goblet and garnish with a candy cane. “WINTER BERRY
Fill a tall glass with ice. Add 1 oz. cranberry juice, 3 oz. chilled earl grey tea, 1/2 oz. lemon juice, 1/2 oz. honey syrup and 2 oz. ginger ale. Stir to mix and sprinkle with fresh cranberries and a mint spring.
December 1st also marks our televisions being invaded by a variety of holiday specials night after night. One of my favorites is “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” One of the stations up here is airing the movie every night {starting Dec. 1st} until December 25th.
There are so many comical moments in the film. It’s hard to determine which is the funniest:
1} Clark "browsing." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9t_AIygiG8

2} Clark accidentally stapling his shirt while putting up Christmas lights.
3} Clark getting locked in the attic.
4} The wax sled.
5} Cousin Eddie in the driveway draining the RV's toilet.
6} Clark dreaming about his swimming pool.....Mele Kalikimaka.
7} The family going nuts over a loose squirrel in the house.
8} Clark flipping out and asking for a Tylenol.
Tonight another type of holiday special is airing: “The Victoria Secret Fashion Show.” I can’t wait to see the “Harlequin Fantasy Bra.” It's valued at $3,000,000 and will be adorned with 150ct. worth of bling.
Now something that is totally unrelated to this post: I was reading in Entertainment Weekly about a new reality show starring actor Steven Seagal called "LAWMAN." www.aetv.com/steven-seagal-lawman
A reality show that follows his on- and off-duty work in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. Did anyone of my lovelies know he’s been a deputy sheriff for over 20 years? I sure didn’t. I viewed a trailer for the show the other day: while Steven is arresting a perp, the perp asks for the actor’s autograph. LAWMAN premieres tomorrow at 10pm on A&E

Awesome title. It's really the only movie I can watch over and over again. I also can watch Christmas Story a few times but the Griswolds get the nod for comedy.
Lot of good nuggets in this. I to wish to see Harlequin Fantasy Bra. I would be so nervous unhooking that thing it would be worth about 1.5 million after I am done with it.
If you get your hands on it, you must fashion for me (or all your fans)..hah.

You omitted some of the best scenes-- the yuppie next door neighbors, Cousin Eddie fulfilling Clarks wish, walking up the driveway with a bound and gagged Mr. Shirley tied with a big red ribbon on his head.
When Hollywood is no longer interested in celebrities, celebrities resort to reality show fame.
The wax saucer sled scene is tops next to Clark just smelling-smiling, blouse-browsing.
Reality show? More like a comedy show. I'll be watching only to see if a perp can kick the crap out of Lawman Seagal. Stick to movies Steven.
Aunt Bethany delivering the Pledge of Allegiance during dinner.
margo getting attacked by the squirrel.
margo clocking todd.
Good stuff all. Too bad Charlie Brown is getting bumped tonight for the Obama speech.
Mm, the mocktails sound absolutely delish.
I haven't decorated everything yet but I've taken the first few steps - the Christmas lights are up and I've bought apple-cinnamon-scented candles. And took the mulled wine set out and into use!
We all have those Christmas specials that we recall from childhood, Charlie Brown Christmas, the Grinch, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Raindeer, Its a Wonderful Life, etc....
My current classic that no Christmsas seems complete without is "A Christmas Story". It brings sooo many memories of my youth (and shows how old I am). If you haven't seen it, it is worth a look.

I've only seen maybe 1 or 2 of his films but I read he blames the FBI for ruining his career in Hollywood but he still earns about $5million on his direct to DVD movies.
Bruce at 6:56,
The animated holiday classics are always fun to watch this time of year.
CP-- Steven ruined his career by releasing a music CD.

I didn't know he could sing.
Anonymous at 9:43,
I didn't know he sang either. I looked on you tube and reading some of the comments people think he's pretty good.
How do you water your Charlie Brown tree without killing it?
Anonymous at 11:47,
It's artificial.
I love "Christmas Vacation" and could watch it every day of the week. I like the scene when Clark gets hit by the attic stairs and the "bend over and I'll show you" comment to his neighbor.
P.S. I love your "Peanuts" tree.
CC at 3:59,
The "bend over" comment scene which you are referring to, I found Clark's response to the yuppie husband hilarious:
"I wasn't talking to you."
