It's that time of year again. That time of year that excites me and makes me want to do the Happy Dance. For me this is like Christmas, New Years and my birthday all rolled up in one. It's Fashion Week!! Designers will be presenting their collections for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2013-14 season so for the next couple of weeks I will be posting about the shows starting in the Big Apple.
It's impossible to cover all the shows, in total 19 shows took place today but only a few were streaming online so I thought I would start with The BCBG MAX AZRIA GROUP who kicked off Fashion Week and presented their designs from the Lincoln Center. Max Azria founder of BCBG and his wife Lubov who serves as his muse were inspired to do a collection after their vacation in Instanbul, and took influence from the architecture and the eclectic style of Europe’s southern gypsies. The looks for Fall~Winter 2013-14 were whimsical and bohemian with an urban edge.
Backstage at the show:
Makeup artists from fabulous Sephora provided the makeup:
Celebrities in the front row included Blue Bloods actress Sami Gayle.
The
color palette was warm and wintery featuring blues, to olive greens,
auburn, and chalky hues which transgressed into oxblood burgundy and
black tones. Each outfit was topped with a grey cashmere beanie.
Printed boxy shift dresses were worn over fluid lingerie-like underpinnings. Long vests — both fur and cashmere — topped cozy crew necks.
Another trend that was shown-- layering, leather and fur. Layering pieces included leather leggings or thigh-high boots that had the effect of leggings peeking out from the hemlines of dresses and sweaters.
Speaking of boots check out these awesome ones:
Here's a closer look at them and I absolutely love them! It comes with a pointed toe heel and a sculpted over the knee semi-legging.
Many of the clothes had an urban edge and an eclectic style of Europe’s southern gypsies could clearly be seen.
A little bit hippie and gypsy chic.
The finale:
XOXOXOXO,
Cocaine Princess
